Eirini Afentoulidou, Austrian Academy of Sciences (Vienna, Austria)

Eirini Afentoulidou works at the Department of Byzantine Research, Institute for Medieval Research of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. Her research interests include textual criticism, language analysis, manuscript studies, Byzantine theological literature, and gender studies. She currently works on childbirth-related prayers in Byzantine prayerbooks (Euchologia).

George Demacopoulos, Fordham University (New York, New York, USA)

Dr. George E. Demacopoulos is Fr. John Meyendorff & Patterson Family Chair of Orthodox Christian Studies at Fordham University. He specializes in the history of Christianity during late antiquity and the middle ages.  He has published seven books and dozens of scholarly articles that focus on a range of topics including monasticism, the papacy, the Crusades, and the construction of modern Orthodox Christian identity.  Along with Aristotle Papanikolaou, Dr. Demacopoulos co-founded the Orthodox Christian Studies Center at Fordham University, which was the first university-based center of Orthodox Studies in the Western Hemisphere.  Among other academic initiatives, the Center publishes two book series, the Journal of Orthodox Christian Studies and the academic blog, Public Orthodoxy.
